If you really belief that then definitely haven't paid attention in the original Yu-Gi-Oh. Because the first duel of Yugi VS Kaiba he used Exodia. Also, eventually he defeated Kaiba with Dark Paladin (in Battle City Tournament) and Yugi can defeat Kaiba without the Egyptian Gods. He's the King of Games remember?
